Black History Month
A lot has been said since President Trump’s Administration announced they would not fully endorse Black History Month as the Federal Government has done in the past. I have been in the trenches talking and chatting with We, the People, on the subject. My position is that I don’t really care for a Federal admission of any group, race, or creed. The government is not my daddy; it is not there to make me feel warm and fuzzies. The Government exists to shut up and stay out of the way until We, the People, as a whole, require protection.
A fellow black man I respect greatly posted this nonsense image, and I was compelled to respond.
To wit, I stated:
“People who could not walk got around just fine before DEI. Furthermore, Blacks were a strong and capable people before DEI. Just read some Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington (both born as slaves) and compare it to your standard white college graduate's writing today. There were plenty of persons who did big things hundreds of years before DEI was even a thought. The first Black elected to office I believe was Wentworth Cheswell. This was before, during and after the founding of the nation; he rode information missions during the same period as Paul Revere and was even a Judge. We were not to be fucked with before DEI; we won't be anything to fuck with now that it is gone. Stay strong, stay Black, stay above the noise!“
The ongoing effort to rewrite history to make it seem as though blacks, women, the handicapped, mentally infirm, and otherwise “othered” persons had nothing to do with building this great nation is a Leftist move I cannot tolerate.
The first thing Leftists do each and every time they attempt to take over a nation is rewrite history to divide the masses. Instead of bringing us all together based on our similarities, the Left continues to pull us apart because of our differences. Another such angle is the Morgan Freeman angle on the matter. Years ago, Mr. Freeman had a discussion with Mike Wallace about Black History Month and how he was against the very idea of it.
When Wallace asked, “How are we going to get rid of racism?” Mr. Freeman responded with, “Stop talking about it. I’m going to stop calling you a white man, and I’m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man.” There is a lot of power in these statements. We speak truth into race; it is an oversimplification of biology. For example, we say “blacks have a higher rate of hypertension than whites” because it is a lot simpler and easier to understand than “differences in ionic transport mechanisms, the renal epithelial sodium channel, the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, and vasoactive substances can cause some to be at heightened risk for hypertension.“ The second is gibberish to the layperson, but it provides a basis for the medical industry to solve problems.
This is very similar to the “Black History Month” debate. Having a black history month is easy. It says, “Look at me! I am specifically calling out that blacks have history!” People understand this, it gives certain types of folks the warm and fuzzies. It is convenient but not useful. Having black history month; however, like stating “blacks have a higher rate of hypertension than whites,” hides the reasons for the disparities and provides no basis for a people correcting those disparities. Talking about race - forcing actions and discussion around race - causes a perpetuation of racism. We can only move forward, by teaching the fullness and richness of all history and solving real socioeconomic problems. We cannot move forward by whining about mere phenotype expression.
Trump Won
With over 300 electoral votes, Trump has won the 2024 US Presidential Election. Further, Cruz has won the Senate race here in TX. On top of all this, there has been a red wave throughout the nation! This is fantastic news, and I am eager to see what our representatives do with the new found political atmosphere.
An interesting thing to note is the racism and sexism of leftists.
A black man who did not vote for Kamala Harris in November is sexist, but a black woman who did not support Cornell West in March is not?
A white man who did not vote for Kamala Harris is racist and sexist, but a black woman who did not vote for RFK Jr. is not?
An Indian woman who fixes collard greens in the tub is black, but a black man who uses a crock pot is not?
No one can make this make sense.
Further, their assumptions about me are staggering. I have had multiple leftists approach me and talk to me about their pain from this election and how I must share it. One even brought his son to me, and explained to his son that he should keep his voice down around most people, but I am cool so he can express his feelings freely with me. These people clearly know NOTHING about me; yet, they assume my political leaning none-the-less. White all of them; Liberal all of them; Leftist all of them. If this isn’t the very most basic form of racism - to literally assume my thoughts and feelings by the colour of my skin knowing nothing of me - I don’t know what is.
I am a GOP precinct secretary. I stomped pavement and knocked doors for Ted Cruz. I have written tons of pages describing exactly my thoughts and feelings. I am an open book. Are these people interested in me, the person? of course not. They have asked not a single question about me, my life, my children. Nothing. I have never seen this kind of wonton disregard of my personhood from anyone in the GOP. What an electorate the Democrats have. What an electorate indeed.
I did not scoff at these people; they are not worth the saliva. I simply listened to them tell me how people like me are the worst people ever and we are going to kill them and kill Democracy. They are still alive, and we still have elections… Go figure…
President Trump’s first term gave me the greatest gift any Government could give me: my health and sobriety. Signed into law was a sweeping reform of healthcare in the US. Some of the points were:
Finalized a rule to allow the importation of prescription drugs from Canada
Ended the gag clauses that prevented pharmacists from informing patients about the best prices for the medications they need
Signed first-ever executive order to affirm that it is the official policy of the United States Government to protect patients with pre-existing conditions
Improved access to tax-free health savings accounts for individuals with chronic conditions
Finalized requirements for unprecedented price transparency from hospitals and insurance companies so patients know what the cost is before they receive care
Finalized the Most Favored Nation Rule to ensure that pharmaceutical companies offer the same discounts to the United States as they do to other nations, resulting in an estimated $85 billion in savings over seven years—$30 billion in out-of-pocket costs alone
These along with other rules and laws protected me when I went to rehab. I was making much less money in the beginning of my sobriety and because of the new law, it only cost me a few hundred dollars over 4 years to pay for my outpatient treatments. This literally saved my life and saved my children from growing up without a father. For this single signature, I will be eternally grateful to Mr. Trump.
When people say that Trump will end this, or destroy that, or kill the other thing, they show their ignorance. We don’t vote for Trump for destruction and hate; we vote for Trump for life and liberty. Anyone who is unable to see that is too far gone to help and I wish them well. This is why I sit back and accept the vitriol of those who despise me and other Trump voters. They require forgiveness, for they know not what they do.
Why do we ask Race and Sex on Applications?
The short answer is that the EEOC and CEI ask for it. You are allowed to decline a response, so it seems meaningless. The guidelines state that one cannot use race, sex, religion, and myriad other meritless qualities to discriminate in employment. If one cannot use these qualities, why ask for them at all? The answer, as always, lies in a complicated history of well-meaning but terrible legislation.
(Note: There were Executive Orders dating back at least to President Roosevelt regarding employment and meritless qualities. We will focus only on Affirmative Action as enforced by the EEOC in this document.)
Affirmative Action was put into effect by Executive Order of President Kennedy. This measure was to ensure employers treated and employed people without regard to their meritless qualities. This is OK. this is not just a black thing or a woman thing. It allows people to sue for discrimination irrespective of the like and kind of discrimination: blacks, whites, women, and men have all taken advantage of this (white men have taken advantage of this as recently as April 2024 [judgment] [opinion]). This is a general policy for the general welfare and can be applied without reference to special interests. We begin to see the destruction of this policy in the very next Administration.
President Johnson made subtle changes to the doctrine here. This was also by Executive Order. Johnson tasked the Federal Government with ensuring equal opportunity in recruitment, hiring, training, and other employment practices. This, on the surface, sounds reasonable; equal opportunity is a hallmark trait of a great society. However, the equal opportunity of recruitment opens the door for abuse and discrimination. It is not the Government’s place to tell a society who should be applying for jobs, it is only the Government’s place to ensure that once applied for, the job is decided upon merit. this was part of President Johnson’s “Great Society”.
Due to the emphasis on recruitment, the Government and private industry struck many deals migrating thought leadership away from Kennedy’s goal of equal opportunity and toward the “Great Society” goal of equal outcome. this caused a flurry of over-regulation, over-adjudication, extreme Government expansion, and bad outcomes contrary to the stated goal. Any one of Dr. Tomas Sowell’s books can provide a rudimentary look at these bad outcomes; a reading of his entire catalog can constitute a masterclass.
This went on for quite some time and many class action lawsuits and other challenges to business and the Government persisted. President Reagan (with Clarence Thomas, Esq. then the head of the EEOC) changed this in good and bad ways. The unintended consequences of their actions are felt to this very date. First and foremost, President Reagan’s Administration diminished the size and ability of the Agencies responsible for Affirmative Action and, at the same time, altered the enforcement of these policies and deployed the Government to regulate the regulators. In hindsight, maybe the latter portion of this plan should have been foregone.
The Reagan Administration forced the proponents of Affirmative Action to find new and exciting ways to enforce the Equality of Outcome narrative while getting around the return to Equality of Opportunity. While Reagan was campaigning in 1980, it was fairly clear he would be victorious and have the opportunity to push his ideals. A PAC was formed, the Human Rights Campaign Fund, to promote Equality of Outcome. This later became the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF) and, in turn, created the Corporate Equality Index (CEI).
CEI is used to strong-arm corporations into performing DEI, meritless reporting, and other wasteful activities. They are backed by the largest funders on the planet including Black Rock, Vanguard, and State Street. What they do is push an unsanctioned government agenda by forcing that agenda onto corporations and marketing their CEI score as the end-all-be-all of corporate responsibility and equality. They have placed themselves as the sole authority regarding corporate merit.
Now, this private corporation requires organizations to provide demographic information in order to validate and certify the equality of each firm. The problem is this private organization makes the rules, and thus has the power to bend the rules. They often give low scores for companies that are largely male, and high scores for companies that are largely female. This same trend is apparent when you control for race and religion. If the goal is “Equality” shouldn’t a score drop be warranted irrespective of the direction of disparity? The goals are born out of the results, not the statements made; of this I am sure.
Further, the EEOC and similar groups use demographic information (if provided) as evidence against corporations when discrimination requests are filed. If a corporation shows it has too many whites and too many males, watch out; here comes big daddy Government to take care of our childish adults who cannot do for themselves. In this respect, Government has been weaponized to take from those who are hard-working and give to those who complain the most.
If you look around and see blacks getting ahead and women getting ahead, you have probably wondered why these questions are still asked of job applicants in the year 2024. Many of us have asked this, and the answer is not surprising in the least. This is done to divide We, the People. No further proof is required than the form of some of the questions. There is no such thing as “Black/African American”. I am an American - if you want to call me “black” that is on you; Elon Musk is an African American.
